Lucy Jay Designs will be also teaching 4 week blocks of paper cutting and miniatures.
On this mini 4 week course you will be learning the addictive and fun art of modern paper craft. On the first session you will be given own paper craft kit which you can bring to each session.
Our sessions will be on a Tuesday evening from 6.30pm – 8.30pm and are based at Long Eaton Art Room.
This first course starts on Tuesday 5th April 2022 and ends on Tuesday 26th April 2022.
No experience is needed for this course and it is absolutely perfect for beginners. Over the four weeks, we will cover the following:
Week 1 – Paper Cutting
During this session you will learn to handle your craft knife with ease and how to follow paper cutting templates. You will start with two quick warm up templates to learn how much pressure to use on your paper and how to handle curves and angles while cutting. Then you will start a template from your pack to finish during the session.
Week 2 – Quilling
During this session you will learn a variety of skills including basic quilling techniques such as creating simple shapes, coils and scrolls. You will learn to freehand loop and how to assemble your quilled pieces into decorative designs. Your designs will be mounted on to card in this session but quilling can be used to create a variety of stunning art and jewellery.
Week 3 – Paper Bead Bees
This session will comprise of learning the art of making paper beads. During the session you will be shown you how to cut, roll and finish paper beads in three different styles. Your final fourth bead will be turned into a lovely little bee paper sculpture.
Week 4 – Ripped Paper Collage
In this session you will be using recycled magazines, maps, labels, painted paper sheets, photos and other torn found paper to capture an image in collage. After three quite neat and precise sessions, this session is all about playing with paper and having fun.
